[Pro] Program error (-1) when trying to paste text

I frequently copy several pieces of text at a time from something, then go to another document or application and paste from my clipboard utility. It’s nice not to have to go back and forth between apps/documents for each item copied and pasted. This works in everything but Freeway. What is it about Freeway that will not ever let me paste anything unless it’s the last thing I’ve copied? I get this error message every time: Could not complete your request because of a program error (-1). I have never been able to use my clipboard utility (not any of them) with Freeway in the 6+ years I’ve used it. I keep trying, though, and I keep getting that error message, and then I follow it up with my usual cursing.

You have to be very careful copying and pasting into FW - especially if your copied text has any styling applied to it.

It is best to copy and paste via a text editor such as TextEdit, TextWrangler or BBEdit making sure that your document is plain text format.

The invisible styles that are carried along for the ride doing a straight copy can mess up your FW doc. I am not sure if that is the case in your instance - what are you copying your text from? Word docs are especially bad for these invisible styles/formatting.

There is a an action WordZapper that was created just to deal with this problem.

But all can be avoided if you go the plain text route.

I’m copying from all kinds of things — Word docs, web pages, PDF files — but I always have my clipboard app set to paste in plain text. If I want to paste formatted or linked text, I have to right click to tell it to paste formatted. Plus, it’s not the pasting itself, it’s the fact that I can’t go between my clipboard app and FW with what I’ve previously copied. Freeway only wants what is the very last thing I copied, like it only wants to work with the actual system clipboard, which only has one item. Does that make sense?

I mean it’s not the end of the world if I have to go back and forth with FW. It’s been that way for six years for me, but I was hoping someone else had the same issue and could say, “Oh, right, you should do this …”

Frank, I’m using Paste Master ($8). Not the prettiest interface, but it has just about everything I need and the developer is very responsive.
