[Pro] Pulling through a news thread onto Homepage

Hi there,

Is there a way to create a ‘news in brief’ box on a homepage, that basically pulls through the latest stories from a client updatable news page (created with WebYep) that sits on the same site?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated as I know my client is really keen to put this into place.

Cheers Jon

Yes, If you make your WebYep story box on the other news page to have
the global setting as “True” you can duplicate this box anywhere on
the site. Restyle the box and text to a different style for your news
box.

Brilliant - that’s great news! (no pun intended!) Thanks so much.

Does that mean that the entire news thread would be pulled through to the Homepage or can you create it in such a way that perhaps just the title and first para (or something of that ilk) comes through?

The entire WebYep long text item contents would duplicate. You could
make the news box a fixed height and then allow in to scroll.

Ok cool. That sounds good.

Do you think there would be any merit in creating the news page so that it reads as an RSS feed and then have a link to the most recent articles from the homepage? For instance if you look at Softpress Knowledgebase Docs - Softpress Talk it creates ‘most recent articles’ links… is this kind of thing achievable or would it take someone with a mind like Walter’s!?

Apologies for all the questions… I just want to make sure I set the pages up correctly from the word go, rather than hitting brickwalls half way through the job.

Thanks again for your help, its much appreciated.

If you have a feed, or can coerce WY into creating one, then you can
place that feed it on your screen and style it how you like using my
ReadFeed Action. I don’t know anything about WY, so I don’t know if
the first step is possible there.
