Does anyone know the true answer to this…
If at work I have a dell PC and each day I hook up my Seagate external drive to it. I have started to bring my mac to work now.
is there a way for both computers to see the files on the external drive at the same time?
I researched this and found USB switches but believe this will only simulate unplugging the drive in 1 and plugging it in the other. The problem with this is, if I have 5 files open on 1 computer and switch so computer 2 sees the drive I will lose all open work on computer 1.
I need a true way to see the drive from both which leads me to believe only networking the drive (no idea how) is the only way.
I will talk to my IT guy about this more but thought I would ask my FW friends.
