[Pro] Registrar Recommendations Please

I want to move from GoDaddy. Have about a dozen names, none expiring soon.

Does anyone have a recommendation? The 5x5 podcast recommends EasyDNS (a sponsor). On a blog I saw that someone was moving from GoDaddy to Hover.

TIA, Ted

I have been using NameCheap for years now - http://www.namecheap.com/. Have over 40 domains registered with them. In all these years I have only submitted two customer support tickets and both times the experience was painless.

The thing I hate about GoDaddy is their never ending attempts to up-sell. You can never just do one thing without being bombarded with extra options and features. I suppose it’s a great biz model selling unnecessary rubbish to gullible consumers.

GD’s domain Registration/management service is fine - no need to move that.

It is their peculiarities with hosting that give grief.

So move hosting by all means but leave Domain management.

I agree with David.

If you ever do have a problem GoDaddy will answer the phone and speak to you.

I register domains and SSL certificates at GoDaddy and host locally.

Not to mention the SCALPER MENTALITY…(Go Daddy)

-Invest in some clever names and sell them for a fortune and get rich!-
type banners - lots of real estate on the go daddy site.

A variation of my ‘buisness’ name Class-e-Ads.com (which I have never decided if I like at all), classeads.com can be had (last checked) for about 4k $.

This name is in their possession and it may have been the one I registered with them cheap or “free” years ago. Now they ‘own’ it, reregistering year after year.

Creeps.

I like Namecheap. I have been using them for a few years now. They are very straightforward.

I hate GoDaddy.
