[Pro] Reposition Css Template items

I’m working with the Freeway Cuisine Template. There is an item called Footer which I’m trying to move down the page to place an Action Showcase Gallery of Photos centrally. I have been unable to move the Footer item. I am trying to build this as a responsive web site, some items are easier to move manually and would would appreciate some extra guidance on this having read the Extended reference for Freeway 7 I am still struggling to adjust the position of items on the breakpoints. Still a bit of a novice on CSS which doesn’t help!

Not quite sure I understand exactly what you are trying to do as the #FooterWrapper which contains #Footer is already at the bottom of the ‘page’

If you want to insert an Html item above the FooterWrapper then I suggest you select Footerwrapper and use the Left Arrow (bottom right of your Keyboard) to move the insertion point before FooterWrapper.

Then Insert>Html Item to place a new item before FooterWrapper (you will need to adjust the size of your new item to suit your layout ie width fixed %, 100%

But if that is not what your intention is then please expand and/or point us to an online WIP

I agree with DeltaDave - this looks like it might be an inflow (box-model)
layout – though we can’t truly tell that without the Freeway file, but the
html has all the signs.

In an inflow layout - especially one that spans the width of the browser
window, a container is used for each “layer” of the design which is
flexible in width. An inner content item then creates the “centered”
appearance (center aligned within the container).

Dave also describes the sanest way to navigate these item within item
structures… using the Site/Page layout pane at the left, select the
FooterWrapper item then left-arrow key once to move the insert cursor to
just before that item. Menu Insert > HTML Item to insert a div box… this
will be your showcase wrapper. Enter that item with your cursor (like you
were going to type something) only, insert another HTML item, and then
center align it and make it the same width as the other inner containers
(width 90%). Add a little top/bottom padding to complete the appearance of
a layer for your showcase and then put whatever content you wish in there
– it should fit with the rest of your page.

If the Freeway templates are using inflow or box-model layouts, everyone
using them would do well to take advantage of the vast learning tools and
discussions found on these forums. Just sayin.

Thanks guys.Your technical knowledge is way ahead of mine! I will follow your instructions and see where I get. The page I refer to in freeway Cuisine Template is ref Gallery
And it is the orange box with the address text in which needs to move to base of page.

Do you mean the orange box with the address text that IS ALREADY at the
base of the “page”? I think that is what is confusing us, if you seek to
move something that is already at the base of the page to the base of the
page.

Hi Guys, sorry to cause confusion. This was a page from freeway example of the Cuisine. I purchased the template and am working on that. On the Gallery page is a black strip 60px by 152px deep 150px from the top set to 100% wide then the Footer which is 1160px wide by 126px deep. The Footer is across the middle of the page. I wish to place an image in a HTML box to replace the black strip 1200px wide by 534px deep, and make a carousel of images, the same as I have done on the Home page. However the footer strip stays in the middle in front of the image, instead of moving down, which takes me back to the original problem guys, back to you for answer please!!
If all else fails I will have to upload when a bit further on and seek your advice when there is something to look at. Thanks for your help.

If you publish this somewhere, we can better diagnose it for you. I would hazard a guess that many/most of the people here who have the experience you need have never seen or touched the stock templates.

That certainly goes for me.

I wish to place an image in a HTML box to replace the black strip 1200px wide by 534px deep

If this is a template with an inline construction then you cannot simply ‘place’ an item on the page - you will have to use the method i outlined earlier.

ie select the item that you wish to insert your new item before then use the left arrow to move the cursor insertion point before it and then Insert>Html item.

Once you have your new item in there you can replace/delete the black strip.
