[Pro] Risers not working on IE (any version)

Hi all,

I use “risers” in my page:

olympiawindows.com (under the Promos picture)

and they work fine in Safari and Firefox but can’t get them to work on IE.

I wonder if there is an equivalent I can use (like an Action y looked at Scripty but don’t think that would expand exactly as riser) or better yet a way to send a IE user to a certain page in my site when they hover over the riser?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Meant to say “ScriptyAccordion”

I use “risers” in my page:

I have an example almost exactly the same as this at http://www.deltadesign.co/fw_examples/menus/riser.html

Though my ‘If IE’ code is not quite the same.

Does my example work for you?

But this set up was never really designed to be properly functional in IE which doesn’t have the support.

Hi David,

What do you mean by:

“Though my ‘If IE’ code is not quite the same.”

Is that something I can use to deal with IE users?
Don’t know a thing about code.

Thanks for responding.

The simple fact of the matter is that IE less than 10 doesn’t support CSS3 transitions.

There is some code in there that is supposed to ‘help’ IE with doing something similar.

I am not sure where your example came from but you have conditionals in your page Body which are supposed to help.

<!--[if IE]>
<time:ANIMATE targetElement="tab1" begin="tab1.mouseenter" end="tab1.mouseleave" attributeName="height" keytimes="0;0.001;1" values="25px;175px;175px" dur="300" />
<time:ANIMATE targetElement="tab2" begin="tab2.mouseenter" end="tab2.mouseleave" attributeName="height" keytimes="0;0.001;1" values="25px;175px;175px" dur="300" />
<time:ANIMATE targetElement="tab3" begin="tab3.mouseenter" end="tab3.mouseleave" attributeName="height" keytimes="0;0.001;1" values="25px;175px;175px" dur="300" />
<time:ANIMATE targetElement="tab4" begin="tab4.mouseenter" end="tab4.mouseleave" attributeName="height" keytimes="0;0.001;1" values="25px;175px;175px" dur="300" />
<time:ANIMATE targetElement="tab5" begin="tab5.mouseenter" end="tab5.mouseleave" attributeName="height" keytimes="0;0.001;1" values="25px;175px;175px" dur="300" />
<![endif]-->

I am not sure they are doing anything.

You also have conditionals in your Head

<!--[if IE]>
<style type="text/css">
dl.riser:hover {height:25px;}
time:animate {behavior: url(#default#time2);behavior: url(#default#time2);}
</style>
<![endif]-->

It seems to be a bit of a mish-mash.

And then there is more code to hide the risers from IE 6

<!--[if IE 6]><style type="text/css">#risers { display:none; }</style><![endif]-->

I would rethink your strategy and maybe you display different content for IE less than 10.

Once you have decided the way you want to go then we can assist.

OK, this is so weird, I have no idea when I entered all that code.

In any case, I deleted the code in the Head and the code related to IE6 and it works in IE7, IE8 and IE9.

AWSOME!

Thanks again David!
