Is there any way to stop Freeway from republishing pages with the Scripty Fader action applied after every minor change? If I alter a single 8K menu file, I end up having to wait while FW re-uploads 200 or more _gallery.html files. Or use Fetch, which is infinitely more reliable and stable, but which, obviously, does not track site changes. It’s a great action for photo galleries, but becomes increasingly unusable as the number of instances increases. I was hoping that might have been fixed in this latest version, but its still a problem.
Any suggestions?
This is the first I’m hearing of this. Thanks for reporting it. I will raise this with the folks at Softpress, and see if there’s anything I can do in the Action to avoid triggering this behavior.

One question – is the change you are making (that triggers the upload) to the page that includes the ScriptyFader elements, or to another unrelated page in the site? If the latter, are you using External Stylesheets?

Hi David,
Are you using the latest version of Freeway (5.6.3)? I ask because we fixed an issue where resources that started with a capital letter were getting uploaded each time. Here are the release notes for 5.6.3; http://www.softpress.com/kb/questions/303/Freeway+5.6.3+Release+Notes
Regards,
Tim.

as far as I remember, I posted this several times (and others too) that I suspect all the scripty stuff (carousel, fader, lightbox …) to force Freeway to upload-orgy without a specific reason for to do.
I won’t fail, but with the latest release, things changed to be much better than within the last half of the year, where I decided to do things consequently without the use of actions.
Cause it made me that sick, not least because I have three screencasts with various file-formats and other stuff that approx. took me 40min to upload.
And all this, cause I just changed something unrelated?
But - and that’s the good thing behind - I learned a few more things, and that’s my primary target every day.
Walt,
Actually, it doesn’t require that I change anything at all. If I hit command-U, even right after un upload completes, all Scripty Fader pages republish, and all related _scriptyoption.html pages re-upload. When I mentioned this last fall, I was told it had something to do with the way FW handled temp files. (Can’t find the original thread.) I’m not using external style sheets.
Tim,
Yes, it’s v.5.6.3. Are you asking because the underscore is supposed to count as a capital letter? Even if that were the case, if FW thinks they’re “new” files after publishing, would,'t they upload anyway?
Hi David,
From what I understand of the issue all resources that started with a capital letter were getting uploaded each time. Although it sounds like that was not the issue I wanted to check to, if nothing else, eliminate that from the debate.
Regards,
Tim.

Thanks. I have raised this with Softpress, and we’ll see what they find. I am actually doing everything recommended within this Action to prevent this behavior, so it’s possible that there has been a regression in Freeway that is causing this to happen. As soon as I hear something back I will update this thread.
Sorry you’re having trouble, and hopefully we can get to the bottom of it.
