[Pro] ScriptyLightbox issues in IE

Hello, we are having trouble with our Lightbox in Internet explorer 6-8 in windows xp and vista. on the custom booth design page of our website the images (jpeg.) have a Lightbox.

The problem is that when the Lightbox opens it quickly collapses down to a very small size. This problem seems to be occurring randomly. Help please.

Thanks, Team SDA

Here is a second Issue we are experiencing, on another page of the website we have a Lightbox that loads a Quicktime and when it opens in IE 6-8 only the upper half of the browser window is grayed out and the movie does not play it just gives a red X in the upper left hand corner of the movie window. It also is not prompting the viewer to download the quicktime plugin required. Please Help. Here is the link to the page.

Thanks, Team SDA

Third Issue Noticed:

It is on the same page as above and it is the Virtual Tour Image rollover. The QT that plays back is to be 454px X 255px. When the Lightbox opens in Safari it opens as a square, looks to be about 175px.

Please advise as to this and the other two issues above.

Thank You Freeway Gurus, Team SDA

Scripty Lightbox has some quirks. It was put together as a simple solution, but with limitations. I am hopeful its author will implement a more robust version at some point.

Here are some things to help.

  1. You cannot have lightboxes with different sizes specified. This is more of an issue with movies. Pick one size per page and have your movies conform. Make sure you specify the lightbox size for all movies.

  2. IE (especially 6) and Firefox for Windows just don’t work as well as in Safari. I suggest using Flash movies as they will play in 90%+ of the machines.

Unfortunately, outside of coding yourself and implementing another lightbox, this is the best we have at the moment.

Good luck.

George,

Thank you so much for you valued input. We are really wanting this effect and are willing to live with a glitch or two while the action gets refined. Your advice helped with video size issue and appears to be solid. Could you or someone address the three issues below. Here is a link to a page set up using this action.

http://scripty.walterdavisstudio.com/lightbox/

  1. Using the light box to display either Flash or Quicktime does not seem to embed the coding necessary for browsers to detect the need for a plugin if they don’t have it. How do we set up the page manually so the user will be prompted as to the need for a particular plugin. Also does this mean that the Eolas Workaround is also not included in the code? (Issue noted in IE 6-8)

  2. In the above link you will notice that the images scale proportionately depending on the window size. On our site using the Latest Scripty Lightbox Action they don’t. What are we doing wrong. (Issue noted in IE 6-7 not sure about 8)

  3. Noticed an issue with both our site and the link above where the grayed out area seems to load to the size of the window but if the window is opened up larger the new exposed area is not grayed out. Our site sometimes has half of the window grayed out after load. Is this a known bug or did we do something wrong. Could live with it for now while it is being fixed (Issue noted in IE 6-7 not sure about 8)
