[Pro] Search Engine Optimization

Hi.
What is the best and hopefully simplest way to optimize the website for search engine recognition?
This is all very new to me and if i’m honest a little confusing so if anyone has some good clear advice I would be very, very greatful. – James

Like someone told me one day - Google is your friend.

If you poke around Googles site there is a lot of information.

There are key factors that google looks for when indexing your site (named pages, updating content, links, etc).

I am new to it as well and learning as I go. I also use this Mac forum which is helpful. I got the following advice from my posting: http://www.mac-forums.com/forums/web-design-hosting/151145-google-rating.html

I’m always looking to get more educated in this area as well so hopefully you’ll get some other postings on this.

I’ll be checking back - good luck!

Hi James,

SEO is a pretty slippery subject with ever changing goalposts. There
are a few things you should read here:

http://thehelpful.com/befound/index.html

and:

These will give you an idea of the sorts of things that are needed and
how to get them into Freeway

I hope this helps and good luck!

There are some very useful comments made on this list for SEO,
contributed by quite a few people which I have found invaluable.
I have collated a lot of this advice into one document that I look at
frequently.

The link to the downloadable PDF is here - please don’t think this is
my work (I’m not that clever with SEO!) Or that it is 100% set in
stone as I only use it for guidelines, but it’s here if anyone wants
to look.

Also, if there are any statements made in it that people wiser than me
see as wrong or misleading, please let me know and I will change it.

Does anyone know if you index your site regularly (daily) with google if it helps with SEO?

Thanks,

It doesn’t. Google only cares about content, and once it knows about
a site it won’t make any difference to keep prompting it.

Get other people to link to your site - but appropriately, not in
anything that looks like a link farm. There’s some info here:
