[Pro] Sequence through Multiple levels of images

I think i remember a post some time ago that described how you can use a combinations of Keys to sequence through multiple levels of images that are in a stack.

For example i have some images that sequence through using Target Show/Hide Layer in conjunction with the Sequence timer action.

If i want to edit one of the settings on an image that is buried within the stack, it would be nice to be able to select it directly without having to move them all over the Pasteboard.

Anyone remember this post please?

Thanks

John

Boy, I would love to hear if there is a keyboard shortcut! What I do is switch the site panel over to “page” and click on the picture I want and hit the return key.

The other thing I’d love is a keyboard shortcut to change between pages in the FW document!

You can try Command-Option-Click on the stack of images. Or you can try this: http://www.freewaytalk.net/thread/view/107346#m_107346

Hello,

The CMD -Option -Click method cycles through the images and allows you to modify the action parameters but does not place the image on top so you cannot directly edit the image.

The idea of changing to the page view as mentioned in the other post does not work for me, after you select the image, then pressing CR does nothing, i am not sure if the latest FW5 update changed anything in that regard…

Thx

John

Once you reach the layer you need to edit, press Return on your keyboard. This causes the selected layer to appear to be on top, and that lets you dig into it for deeper editing. It does not alter the actual stacking order, and the moment that element loses focus, it will slip back under the stack. This means that for certain types of editing, this trick requires you to first navigate your cursor with the keyboard before you can make your changes, as using the mouse may cause the element to lose focus again.

Walter,

This process will nto work for me, i am using 5.5 for this.

I select the image from within the stack by using the CMD-Option-Click method, i do not move the mouse then press return …nothing, yes i have access to the layer Action pallette but not the image.

I also tried selecting the image layer via the page sidebar and the same result.

Apologies for being a bit slow on this.

Is the image you are trying to select a regular graphic box on the page? When I try this trick on a stack of such images, pressing Return brings up the Graphic dialog, where I can choose a different image, perform various transforms on that image, etc. (Hang on, that was in 6.) In 5, I get the Inspector targeted to that desired image, and if I use the menu or keyboard shortcuts (look near the top of the Item menu for the appropriate keys) I can access the controls for that image.

The chosen image does not appear at the top of the stack, though, in either one. You have to know by the filename that the image you want is selected. The top-of-the-stack behavior appears to be reserved for text content elements, either graphic or HTML text boxes.

Yes

With respect to the above i cannot seem to locate what you refer to as the Menu and Keyboard Short Cuts, and i definitely cannot change the image for the particular layer.

The chosen image does not appear at the top of the stack, though, in either one.

Must admit that i thought the image would appear on the Top of the Stack…

Thanks
