[Pro] Shared website

Hi, quick question please, it is possible to ‘bolt-on’ to an existing web-site obviously with there approval?

I’m toying with the idea of a web-preence for a school reunion. There is a site that covers a reunion at the same school but a different year. I’ve very little experience with Freeway on web-sites but use the software to produce a monthly e-newsletter since January 06.

I was hoping that if the owner agrees he could create a button on his home page say - ‘class of 68’ and I could upload the contents to that address - www.existing-site.co.uk/classof68.html for example.

Before I ask the question to the owner - would it be that simple or am I missing something?

Many thanks.

Joe

As long as the owner doesn’t mind you using his hosting then I see no problem. Don’t just upload straight though, remember and create a new folder/ directory called /classof68 and then specify in Freeway when uploading to upload to that directory (just means your files are kept neatly out of the way of his)

Thanks Fergus, I guess the cost in beer for use of his site will be more than starting afresh!

I understand the directory/folder etc but would my /classof68 ‘home page’ in Freeway still be called index?

If you want people to be able to see it by entering http://example.com/classof68/
in their browser, then yes you would make that folder contain
index.html. Visitors could enter that if they like, but it’s optional
if that file exists in the folder. The Web server says to itself,
“Hmmm. This request isn’t for a file, let’s see if it’s really a
folder with an index.html in it… yup, okay, here you go.”
