[Pro] Show/Hide Quicktime video

Is it possible by putting a QT video into a graphic box, applying the show/hide action. To make visible the layer by clicking on a button.

For instance 3 videos lined up just like in a slide show, then there are three buttons below, and depending on which button is clicked the required video will appear and play. I have not been able to figure this one out.

Thanks.

Rather than a graphic box use an HTML box and use Target show/hide layer.

When you drag a video to the FW page an HTML container is created automatically with the video in it. Make sure it is a layer and then apply the action(s)

David, ok when I do that yes I can get the button to show the layer, but it will not start the video playing. I am using the rollover action on the button. So far so good but I need the video to start on the reveal. Any more ideas?

Peter.

That is more complicated and beyond me I am afraid.

Some sort of Observer required to trigger the start. Walter can probably help if you want to go that route.

What about an alternative method:

ScriptyLightbox - http://www.deltadesign.co/examples/scriptyvid.html

If you set the Effect option in the Target Show Hide Layer Action to Fade and the Duration option to 0 (fading of plugins really doesn’t work well unfortunately) then a playing video will stop when hidden. I don’t think it will start when made visible though, but I could be wrong.

Yes it will - if not initially (which may depend on video type/settings) certainly on being made visible again, as the unfinished example, here, shows:

Thanks for all the info guys, I have to get the current site up and running asap so I’ll just do this the usual way with multiple pages, but I’ll continue to experiment with the ideas here. So if anyone has the perfect answer please let me know.

Peter.
