This is odd. I have several photo galleries using the thumbnail feature in Showcase, meaning the images float over the browser in the lightbox effect. They used to work just fine.
Now, after upgrading to the latest version of both Freeway Pro and Showcase, they’re not rendering properly. When you click on a thumbnail, it just takes you to the image itself. No floating, no buttons to go back and forth. It does this in all the browsers I tested.
The odd thing is, when I test the pages on my computer (iMac) they render fine. But when I test the pages on the actual website, they still don’t work.
I can’t figure it out. Here’s a link to one of the galleries. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

How are you uploading - manually via FTP app or do you let FW do it?

I upload manually via my FTP app.

I am seeing this error
ReferenceError: Can’t find variable: jQuery
Amongst a few others including googleads unsafe Javascript
Unsafe JavaScript attempt to access frame with URL http://www.thejudyroom.com/filmography/galleries/posters.html from frame with URL http://googleads.g.doubleclick.net/pagead/ads?client=
If it works locally but not on the server that implies that there is something missing on the server. Or there is a JS conflict?
Any particular reason you dont use FW for upload?

Hmmm - I’ll look and see what the issue with that JS conflict is.
I noticed one gallery does work, but all the others suddenly don’t. They used to. That’s why it’s so odd to me. I didn’t change anything, unless my hosting company did.
No reason for not using FW for upload. Just force of habit with my “old ways.”
Thanks for the help - I’ll check it out and hopefully find the issue. I’ll let you know. Maybe just using FW to upload will make the difference? We’ll see.

That’s it! The two JS files for Showcase were somehow deleted from the file that all the galleries were pointing to. Probably my own fault.
I can’t thank you enough for figuring that out. I was thinking it was a css issue, I hadn’t thought about JS files.
Each time I come to this forum (luckily not very often as FW is great) I get amazing responses.
Thanks!!

It is quite a major feat FW manages in being able to keep track of all these files, without any name conflicts, and then (in the most part) only uploading new/changed items to the server.
As you have seen it is very easy to miss something, or not upload something that has altered.
It can be automated, using a good FTP app like Transmit if you use the sync feature, but FW’s upload facility is a no-brainer!

You really want to see about sorting that JS googleads problem - when I last looked it was up at 91 errors and rising every second or 2.
You also may want to consider splitting that page - with just the thumbs loaded you are up at 2.5Mb, which is pretty hefty.
And optimise your larger images some of which are nearly 1Mb on their own.

Thanks! I’ll look into that Google issue. I didn’t realize that was causing such an issue.
I’ve been revamping the images. I assumed that Showcase would automatically “save for web” when naming and putting the files in the Resources folder. Not sure why I assumed that, but I did. Saving for web in Photoshop is easy.
Thanks again for all the help!

Saving for web in Photoshop is easy.
If you want to do it that way then make sure that you use the Large Image Output setting as a pass-through - otherwise Showcase will optimise it as well and jpeg a jpeg
It (Showcase) does automatically ‘save for web’ but you have control over that optimisation process and whether to make it a progressive image or not.

You’re my new best friend! Thanks so much. I’ll try that.
Also, I’m confused on the Google JS issue. I have the code for the banner at the bottom of the page - is that what’s clogging it up?

That I am not sure about - but if you post a copy page without the google stuff I will have a look. It may be your implementation?
Without seeing the documentation for the google stuff…
