[Pro] Simple Site Search Action Help

Hi,

I have almost got the simple site search action working.

So far it has been easy to set up with very impressive results, it’s worth the upgrade fee alone !

However, I am having some teething problems.

I applied the search box to a master page which in turn added it to all the correct pages. The problem is that the search box works on some pages but is totally unresponsive on others.

If you take a look at www. wet rooms direct dot net

The site search box is in the left column under the category menu.
On the home page the search box works. If you go to the page for Grab Rails, the search box is unresponsive?

Any ideas what may have gone wrong ?

Thanks,

Hi Neil

Dont quote me on this but this may be because most of your pages have forms on them already (your buy buttons)

FW isn’t keen on this and there is an action to help ActionsForge - The Complete Repository of Freeway Actions

Have a read of this thread http://freewaytalk.net/thread/view/86077#m_92534

Also - are you using the most recent version of SSS and FW

Hi Dave,

I added the multiple form action to the search action box. Worked a treat, every page works brilliantly.

Thanks again,

Neil

Hmmmm! - not quite

It works fine if you use the Enter key but not if you press the Search button - at least in Safari.

This is because your code looks like this

<form name="Search" action="searchresults.html" method="get">
<input name="q" size=11 maxlength=20 style="padding:4px">
<input name="t" type="hidden" value="1320583350348">
</form>
<input type=submit name="Search" value="Search">
</p>

Note that the form tags surround the name:“Search” part but the Submit button comes after the closing Form Tag

Joe’s advice was

Either apply the Multiple Form Action to the text field, or group your text field and button and apply the Action to that.

So if you do the latter you should be fine.
