[Pro] Site folder

Hello,

i think I’ve been working for a month now in freeway without understanding some essential parts…

My file is found in the company server and yesterday i decided to copy it in my desktop and kept working. Then when i wanted to preview a page, it asks me in what folder i wanted to put it. And I’ve chosen a folder that I want to change…how can i change it?

I also have another question. All the images and files i use for my site they have to be in the folder where the site file is found?

Thanks, Juliana

My file is found in the company server and yesterday i decided to copy it in my desktop and kept working. Then when i wanted to preview a page, it asks me in what folder i wanted to put it. And I’ve chosen a folder that I want to change…how can i change it?

The first step I’d recommend to do is to create a new folder, call it something like company-project (or whatever). Within this, I usually create two additional folder, which one is named freeway-file (put your freeway-doc there) the other one is the sitefolder (can be named up to your liking as well).

Switch to Freeway, file, document setup and there the first tab (document) under site-folder hit select and choose exactly the above mentioned sitefolder (or however you named it).

This is the “publishing” folder and in there freeway creates the necessary files and resources. It is exactly that stuff that will go later on your webspace to make the page public.

I also have another question. All the images and files i use for my site they have to be in the folder where the site file is found?

Sometimes I create a third folder for project specific medias (images, pdfs, movies).

But in general you can leave all the files in use where they are. Only one thing to make sure:

You need access to all those places. A shut-down server will brake the paths naturally.

So Freeway is (such as InDesin or QuarkXPress) a collector from all places.

Did I forgot something? Oh I hope not.

Cheers

Thomas
