[Pro] Site font

Hello

I have switched over from RapidWeaver and just starting to rebuild our web sites.

When I look at the templates it seems that the site font used is in graphic format and not html.

I understand that I will be able to use any font I have, but does this not hurt the web sites from getting found with the search engines?

Thanks
Phil

Yes - but there is no reason you cannot change the text on any master pages to HTML

Hello David

Thanks for the answer.

I understand that I can change things.

I guess part of what I was asking was why was this done and would one be better off just using html right from the get go?

Because Express users (and a lot of these Templates can be used by Express users) don’t have the same options as Pro users.

With graphic text then it will be WYSIWYG across all browsers and less discerning users (Express) are probably more concerned with how it looks rather then the intricacies of SEO.

There are Templates (I think) that are Pro only but in Pro you can use webfonts etc to allow you to display a particular font on your site that the viewer may not have to give you the ‘look’ with the SEO factor too.

So the simple answer is - if SEO matters on the site you are building then use HTML text.

Just having had a look at some of the Templates - the trend is that it is mainly the Header(s) that use Graphic text - and that is definitely to create a ‘look’.

Hello David

The look thing was what I was thinking it might.

We only have 1 major site where SEO is very important so that site will get html text. the others will get graphic.

Thanks again
