[Pro] Site Suggestions

I have this site Iam trying to make http://sunshineambassadors-dance.org/ and I am having a hard time designing it. All the information in the site is there I just dont know what to do with it. I am in no way a professional and I do not know what I am doing, so any suggestions would be great.

One of the first things I would suggest is that you work on standardising your text styles - at the moment you do not have a consistent typeface site-wide nor are all your headers, sub headings etc the same.

Look at it graphically as well - what is the image that you want to represent? Is there a logo, are their pictures, what colours should I be using.

Once you have a better idea of these it will help you to formulate the structure.

And if you can share some of that with us we can guide you a bit better.

Another option is not to start from scratch at all. Have you looked at the templates that come with and are available for FW - is there something there that could be tweaked to reflect the colours etc you want to use.

Ok the problem with the logo is I have no Idea how you could put that on the
site anywhere. I put the freeway file and the logo in the top right corner
of the home page so you can see it.

Sorry, what do you mean by "incorporate it like a normal logo? Do you
mean layer it over another graphic? Freeway is capable of reading
almost any graphic format that Illustrator and Photoshop can save, and
it can composite images together with full support for alpha channels
and transparency. Can you give an example – even on someone else’s
site – of what you’re after?

Ok. If you look at the logo you will probably know what I’m talking about.
It is not a normal logo, like the one for freeway it’s too big in the since
that if you put it on the page its too big. If you shrink it then you can’t
even see it. I’m thinking that I need to find another logo to use.

You know that Freeway lets you resize an image to any degree you like,
right? Just click once on the box so the handles are showing, then
hold down the shift and command keys to constrain proportions and drag
the bottom-right corner. Down and to the right makes it larger, and up
and to the left makes it smaller. Any percentage you like.

The problem with the logo is that there isn’t enough contrast between the bg yellow and the colour of the sun.

http://www.deltadesign.co/examples/sunshine.html

I would use the sun and its rays on a transparent bg and enhance the colour of the rays a bit - this would give you better flexibility over what colour bg to use.

I can see what you mean. I don’t think you can resize that without
losing everything, it’s just too low contrast to work with. I just did
a quickie deconstruction of the logo in Photoshop, here’s where I
ended up after 15 minutes: Untitled

Yes Walter’s version of the Logo is what I had envisaged but probably worth having a version that works on a light background as well as a dark one.

I will put a link to the FW file up later at the same address as the example.
