When I try to change anything on one of my web pages it takes forever for the change to take place. I can scroll up, it takes 20 to 30 seconds while I am watching the beach ball go round and round. Same thing happens when trying to highlight a word, add a line etc. etc. It took over 2 minutes to copy and paste some text into an HTML box.
Also today I was typing in text that was not underlined, but when I preview in Safari the text is underlined anyway. I could not make it go away so had to publish with everything underlined.
My MacBook 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo has 2G of RAM. I am running Snow Leopard 10.6.8
My website files reside on an external hard drive.
I am so frustrated. It should not be this difficult.
Thanks in advance for your help.

Restart your Mac and work with your FW file on your internal HD.
You can always back up to the external regularly.
Also worth running Disk Utility over your Mac - might be the signs of impending problems with your HD file structure.

Delta Dave, Thanks for the advice. I ran Disk Utility on my external hard drive. Fortunately it didn’t find any problems.
I realized today that the reason everything was underlined in my Gigs list was because a web link got carried over to every line. I deleted the links and the page looks good. Freeway seems to be working better now – maybe the Disk Utility helped!

I ran Disk Utility on my external hard drive.
Do it on your internal one too.
Do you leave your MacBook on all the time? There are certain housekeeping tasks that the OS likes to do at odd times (during the night) - not sure if it is the same for Snow - and if it is off then they dont run.
There are various tools to instigate them for you such as Cocktail http://maintain.se/cocktail

I usually leave my MacBook on once a week overnight. We have been traveling so I haven’t kept my usual schedule.
