I’m surprised they showed up on the page as they were off the page in Freeway and so shouldn’t have been published.
If those were layered items then they’d be published whether they’re on the page or not. They’d be visible if the browser window is large enough or if the visitor scrolls across.
To make them not publish you can either uncheck the Publish checkbox in the Inspector - or make them unlayered items instead.
