[Pro] Softpress Send Form Action?

Has anyone tried the NEW Send Form Action? I’m currently using PHP easiForm, but I’m not sure if it’s even FWP 6 compatible. Plus, if I can use an action that’s built into FWP, which has the same features, that would be my preference.

If you have can you post your thoughts on the NEW Send Form Action and, if possible, a link to the form page you designed that would be very helpful.

Send Form is really the PHP Feedback Form action with HTML 5 enhancements.

What more can I say - it works!

Do you know if it offers the same functionality as PHP easiForm? Also, do all of the form elements have to be absolutely positioned and layered or can they be inline?

What particular features that EasiForm offers do you need.

With SendForm or PHPFF you can throw your form elements anywhere you like on your page as (certainly PHPFF) can be applied as a Page action or to an enclosing item like a Div or a Table.

Personally i like to build my form elements into a Table structure to keep them all together.

I agree and that’s how I have easiForm setup. I’ll give Send Form a shot.

Watching one of the videos explaining the new Send Form Action, I didn’t see where you woulkd add multiple email recipients like you can in PHP Feedback Action.

Did I just miss that or is that not possible?

No different from PHPFF - put your email recipients email addresses in the recipient address field separated by a comma

I recently tried the Send Form action. I spent nearly 3 hours messing around with it. In the end I could not get it to work. The form kept sending me to the error page, even though there was no error. I quickly reverted back to easiForm, which worked fine.

For now, I am sticking with Mike Brackenridge’s form solutions, which are located here:

BTW, and this is a bit of a rant, Softpress really needs to update their Freeway Pro Reference guide to include ALL of the new FWP 6 features. I realize they released a Freeway Pro 6 New Features guide, but that is sorely lacking.

I usually use Tim’s PHP Feedback Action. VERY easy to use.

I haven’t tried that yet, but I know Tim and and all of his actions work really well. Do you have it installed on a test page I can take a look at?

Very nice.

Here are some features I’ve come to depend on, which easiForm does. Does PHP Feedback Form offer these?

  1. Option to stylize form and data text
  2. Ability to include two email addresses, for confirmation, and then check both against one another to ensure the email was entered correctly
  3. Provide a visual warning of fields that were incomplete

Here’s a complete list of ALL of the easiForm features:

Yes, PHP Feedback Form has some nice features, but I can’t understand why Softpress wouldn’t release Send Form with some of the same features as the two we’ve mentioned.

Send From seems woefully underpowered to me.

Send Form is designed to be a good general solution, aimed at the low to middle of the form handling spectrum. I don’t think it is missing anything when you consider that goal. If you want something more specialized, there are other Actions you can layer over that one, or replace it with the EasiForm ones if you prefer. EasiForm is paid, right? You need to support that author if you like his work, not ask Softpress to put him out of business…

I agree.

I’ve been in touch with Mike, and like you he wrote easiForm to support the FreewayTalk community, not necessarily to turn a profit. However, I never want to see any author put out of business by a larger company, which is why I support folks like Mike, Max, Thomas, and other smaller developers like Perch and Pulse.

In the case of Send Form, I think better reference material and installation instructions would go a long way towards improving its usefulness. However, I’m sure GoDaddy is contributing to the difficulty I had.

I think I’m going to have to learn to use Send Form after all, since my DiskStation doesn’t support ionCube, which easiForm requires. Bummer.

Try Tim’s PHP Feedback Form. Dead easy. And it’s free.

Walter says it’s pretty much the same as Send Form, but if you can’t get that to work, try Tim’s.

I’ve used it for all my forms and never had a problem.
