I have downloaded the free trial & having a go at it.
When adding in Images, does the software automatically make them smaller file sizes for faster loading?
After the site is on the internet, where can I access the HTML code to put in meta tags?

Once imported, you can go to the Inspector panel and click the third tab - this is where you can see / adjust the output of your images. JPEG 75% is set by default, but you can raise that, or change to another format, PNG for example.
Once you have uploaded (or before), you can go to Page > Meta Tags, and you can enter your information there. i.e.
Click New…
Name: TITLE
Value: Title of your page
Then re-upload.

I am VERY impressed with this software.
My plan is to purchase in 3-5 days.
If I start putting together a site with the trial version, what changes after I buy?
I can start start a site now & save it & use it after I buy this software???
What I mean is that I do not even see where I will put in a serial number to authenticate my copy.

The Full release version will be available soon and at that point you will be able to serialise it.

Yep, it will be a new application though, the preview is just the preview that can’t ever be serialised.

What if the final does not get released before my free trial runs out?
Am I just out of luck & have no working software?
Obviously the forum is faster than support emails.
I am trying to discuss what is a qualified discounted person.

I would be willing to assume that they will release a final 5.5 before the trial runs out. I’m not on the SP team or anything, but it would make sense for them to do so.
