[Pro] Splitting a web site

My web site is becoming rather large and I still have a lot of pages to add. In the manual it suggests splitting the site into two separate files. Assuming that I can figure out how to do this (presumably build two sites using the same Master pages and styles) how do I link between anchors on pages that are in different sections?

From the lack of replies, I assume that there is no simple “drag and drop” way to link between pages if you split a web site into two. Therefore the manual suggestion isn’t very clever.

Has anyone here actually used Freeway Pro to build (successfully) a site with hundreds of interlinked pages?

You can do the Split the Site[1] technique, and then once you have
published both sites into the same local Site Folder (on your hard
drive) you can navigate to the page you wish to link to either by
picking it out of the list of pages in the current site, or by
clicking the Browse button in the External tab of the Hyperlink
palette and linking to the page by filename. Assuming you have named
your files in a logical manner, you should have no trouble cross-
linking like this. External links don’t update automagically when you
make filename changes, though, so you’ll have to exercise a little due
diligence here in your site structure.

I have built sites up to 300 pages or so in one Freeway 4 document.
Never needed to make anything that large in 5. I don’t recommend it,
mostly because the UI breaks down (you try scrolling that long a list
of pages in order to make a link) but not because of any other
drawbacks in the program itself. Takes a while to open and save such a
document, but once it’s open and running, it’s absolutely no difference.

  1. The Cliff’s Notes version: Start with one large document containing
    all pages. Duplicate the .freeway document. Open one of them, and
    throw out a lot of the pages. You’ll be asked if you want to replace
    the links with external links. Agree. Open the other, and throw out
    the converse set of pages. Also agree. Publish both documents twice.
