As a very general and unrelated answer to your work, I have a bunch of strategies regarding menus:
- I make my pages much wider and give it enough space
- Switching earlier to mobile if there isn’t enough space available
- I create some extra styles, turning the menu-entries into percentage width. In an extra (manual) media query, I switch them from one line (let’s say 6 entries) to two lines (each three entries one above the other)
The third one, I usually try to avoid as much as I can. I try to keep the main menu as simple as possible.
