[Pro] Strange artifacts on web page

I bought Freeway on Monday and I can already see what a great decision I’ve made (formerly just dabbled with GoLive & Blogger). My first freeway site (in progress) is coming along fine but I have one problem I cannot seem to solve. FW Tech is trying to figure out what I’ve done wrong but perhaps if there is a seasoned user out there who can spot the problem, I would be ever so appreciative.

I cannot seem to get rid of those white lines on the sides, does anyone have any ideas, they don’t show up in my files or the FW interface but there they are in Safari & Firefox.

From what I can see the ones on the left are in the images you are
using, you can see this by dragging them to the desktop and opening
them with PS.

Hey Mike, you are absolutely right, they are there in the images when I drag them from the url!!! However they are absolutely NOT there in my photoshop files, so were the artifacts generated from Freeway? Any ideas on how I can fix it?

The ones on the left are actually part of the images that you’ve used.
I opened them in Photoshop, and they have a thin white line down the
left side. That’s both the body image and the header image.

Your header image is 780px wide, but the container it is in is 781, so
I suspect that the white line on the right of the header is actually
the background showing through as the image isn’t quite big enough to
fill it.

best wishes,

I have noticed the images are not the same width, one being 1px wider
than the container width it is supposed to be in and they are called
names that I suspect you have named them so I don’t see how FW would
have changed them.

I suggest…

  1. you go back to PS and make sure the images are the same width (780px)

  2. then go to FW, delete the graphic items you have used for the images.

  3. Make surewhere you are adding the images is 780 wide

  4. Add graphic items and then import the images again

  5. Publish and see what happens now.

Hey, you guys, thanks so much. I guess that 1 stray pixel amounts to sloppy work. I used the fir box to content function so I never thought to look there for, I will try your ideas pronto, Mahalo for your response.

Yay, it’s fixed!

But there are some things I don’t understand. I did this on the master page. My file was exactly 780 so I made the container match but it still stubbornly showed the line. So I made the container 779, used align to left align and specced the margin at 23, then republished, all the pages updated but not the index.html. After several tries with “reapply master” I gave up and did it manually, that worked but it was my understanding that all edits made to the MP would be reflected on all pages based on it. Is that not true?

Again, Mike & Paul, many thanks for helping me out.

Now I can go ahead and try to understand Scripty Lightbox with video, wish me luck.
