I am having a problem getting a new Freeway Pro 6 site under construction showing up on a friends monitor the same size it seems to show up in many other monitors either on a Mac or PC platform.It always comes up very small on his brand new (PC running IE 8) 23 inch monitor with exactly the same resolution as my 23 inch monitor with the same resolution.All other websites he visits come up a normal size even an older site I designed in Freeway.My new site seems to be just fine on my wife’s PC and the monitors of others I have contacted but there still may be problems “out there”.
My question is, why should there suddenly and inexplicably be such a reduction of browser size in just this one monitor and what should I do about it ? I am no expert with Freeway although my previous sites seem to function reasonably well but this particular friend wants me to produce a website for him and it sure doesn’t look great if I don’t have any answers about this puzzling problem.
Any help and advise will be appreciated even if it just painfully exposes my web design abilities as being severely challenged.
I guess it would be useful to have more information sorry not to have included it in the first place.I am using Mac OS 10.6.8 and he is using Windows 8 . The resolutions on both monitors are 1440 x 900.
(Really sorry about the very sad and unfortunate event in your wonderful city.I am from the UK myself and although I been in the States for more than half my life I felt it as I had never left.I have wonderful memories of Scotland ! )
If I look at your site petesdogpawtraits.com with Win 7 and IE10 I am not seeing anything unusual (dont have Win 8) - and that is with various resolutions (including 1440 x 900)
Your site is 1000px wide so should (obviously) be about 70% of his screen real estate. If he is not seeing that then I would be looking at his IE settings.
You could also get him to download an alternative browser (Chrome would be a good choice) and see if there is a difference.
I guess I am puzzled because all the other sites he visits show up normally, even the links from my site, and I don’t understand why my Freeway site of all of them is the anomaly.
I will suggest that he tries Chrome to see what result he gets with that.
