[Pro] Stupid Question, probably...changing the size of a Text Field...

Hi guys

I’m new to the wonderful world of Freeway 5 Pro (it seems like the best kept secret in all of webdom), and I am really loving re-building my site in it. However, I am now onto creating a contact form, and I’ve done everything right with it, I’ve tested it and I receive the email correctly and such.

But there’s one thing I can’t seem to do and it’ll probably be a ridiculous question to most of you, so please forgive me…

I have a simple ‘Name’ ‘Email’ ‘Message’ setup…all three categories are a one like Text Field, but I want the ‘Message’ area to have more like 10 lines, if you know what I mean…so when they’re typing and they get to the end of the line, it doesn’t keep going along with the previous text disappearing, but it’ll go onto the next line and onto the next etc. It seems all the tutorials I find show the message box like that, but none have explained how to do that…can someone please give me some advice on how to do this?

Thank you!

Steve.

I meant ‘one line Text Field’ not ‘one like’. Thanks!

Welcome to the “wonderful world” Steve.

Go to the Insert Menu and under ‘Form Items’ select “Text Area” and
that should solve your problem.

Let us see your site, when it goes on line.

And, as has been said before, the only ridiculous questions on
Freeway Talk are the ones you fail to ask.

D’oh!

It was right in front of my nose. Thanks Colin, I’ll make sure to come back for opinions when it’s done (could be some time yet).

I’m not a code-y person whatsoever, so this program is a Godsend.

Thanks once again, it’s very much appreciated.

Steve.

To help do this if you construct your form within a table it makes lining the elements so much easier

And remember that you can align the content in a table cell vertically (top, middle and bottom)
as well

I tried that. I usually use a table to make the form, but when I preview in a browser all the fields are ragged, not aligned, yet they all have the same character width.

Hence…Freeze Form Action.

Try my CSS Form Element Action.

http://www.actionsworld.com/formelementcss.php

This will keep the sizes of the form elements as they are in Freeway, and allows a lot more customisation to boot.
