[Pro] SUBLIME PLAYER (is it for multiple files?)

Hi,

I am in desperate need of a way out…

I have about 11 .mp4 videos I want to use with Sublime player. I am going to be putting them on Separate site pages.

The player is awesome and plays on everything- perfect; a dream for video on mac and PC.

My problem (and this is not the first to report) is when I add just 1 video (about 80mb) everytime I UPLOAD my FW site, it has to upload the video again.

I am not sure how to use my FTP to go around this since I have to choose the file in the SUBLIME setting and cannot use an .html for the video.

I did move the video over in FTP but still seems to have to upload in FW.

I can only imagine if I had 5 or 6+ videos, it would be impossible. Right now 1 is taking about 7 minutes to upload even when no changes are made.

Dave- I have decided not to do the thumbnails from your offer and have them all on 1 page; thus the reason for my post.

thanks!

barry

I don’t know why this is happening. Can you test this with a smaller file – something like my Fox marquee? See if the movie uploads each time? You will have to sit through the upload the first time, but it shouldn’t upload again unless something else on that page has changed.

I did just go to the RESOURCES folder on the server side of my FTP and the first video says just 3mb. I wonder if this is the problem?

I am goign to try and bring it over in the FTP and drop into Resources folder (the entire 70mb).

Is this ok to do?

I am thinking then it won;t keep doing it.

Freeway waits until the end of the upload process to update its _siteinfo file. This database contains the file size and modification date of each file that Freeway has uploaded. This is compared before each subsequent upload to determine what has changed, and updated at the end of each subsequent upload. Only the files that don’t match the last upload are sent to the server.

This process only happens if you upload through Freeway – if you upload a file using your FTP application into the same folder that Freeway wants to upload into, it won’t recognize that file as its own and will upload again, overwriting that file.

Ok I went into FTP and deleted all the videos out from the server side and anything I moved into resource folder.

Re-uploading now in FW so that any video files there were brought over from FW.

Will save exit out when done and come back in to see if any better,

I see that the FTP should not be used in this case.

You may want to make a second Freeway document that is entirely devoted to uploading these few movie pages. Make a subfolder on your main document called movies or something like that. Don’t put any pages in that folder, just make the folder in your site pane. Then copy the movie pages over to your second document and delete them from the main document. In the upload dialog, set the movies document to upload into the your_site_folder/movies folder on the server. That will insulate the two documents from one another, so changes to the rest of your site don’t cause these movie pages to become “dirty” and upload again along with their video files.

FTP should be an all-or-nothing choice, and you should use a smart tool like Transmit, which can do incremental uploads similar to Freeway. If you’re going to use Transmit, just use it to synchronize your local site folder with your server, and don’t bother with Freeway’s upload. But if you use Freeway to upload, then always use it to do the entire job.

Ok- it worked now!! I think moving them over in FTP was messing it up- the FTP was good to peak in and look and then I saw the file size difference. Deleting all out and letting FW move them over to the resource folder was the answer.

Walt -thanks a million!!

Not sure what is going on here.

I converted my .mp4 into .theora.ogg and chose it in the sublime settings in the action.

When I upload through Freeway it never brings the .ogg file over.

When I check it in my FTP, this file is not there in resources.

However, when I check resources on the site page, it is there and status says ok.

Adding the .ogg file to the subime settings actaully made the video not open in any browser and here is the best part… when I added the .webm file, now when I upload it does the .mp4 file again and does not bring over the .webm file.

Play button is middle is now not showing up among all this too.

THis is just too much time for something not worked out…

the addition of .ogg and .webm did not make things better but seems only worse.

You’ve hit a common bug in how Actions handle files; what has happened is that the list of files is off by one index number, so you’ve got a ghost file. Delete the image that you’ve applied the Action to, and publish once. Then build the movie back up again: add the thumbnail, apply the Action, choose all of the movie formats at once, then publish.

Yes, this does mean that all your massive files have to upload again. Be patient. In future, try to avoid adding file options after you’ve published once. This works: Apply the Action to a photo, choose one, two or three format options, publish. This does not: Apply the Action to a photo, choose one format option, publish, add another one or two options, publish again.
