[Pro] © symbol not displaying correctly

I am updating a site, on the original site, the copyright symbol is displaying correctly, the code created by FW is

© Glandore Harbour Yacht Club 2012

On the updated site which is still work in progress, the copyright symbol is being displayed as a triangle with a ? inside, and the code FW generates is :-

 Glandore Yacht Club 2013

The Text settings in the Document Setup are identical between the two sites.

Any ideas please?

Thanks John

Check the Output tab of your page(s), ensure that instead of Automatic, it’s set to Unicode (preferably) or another “named” encoding.

am not sure but try on both UTF-8 as encoding instead of that ISO-8859 thing. Second may or may not work - UTF-8 should be a JustWork.

Shot in the dark.

Cheers

Walter/Thomas,

The suggestions made no difference to the problem, just to check my problem again i have been Previewing the page from within FW and it seems to be OK. I noted on some blogs that this problem can be produced by the server, not sure how, but, it looks as if my issue maybe server related as it displays OK locally… which could make sense as the working site and the experimental sites are on totally different servers.

Sorry about that, but thanks for your help.

Keep trying different encodings, perhaps in the Windows Latin end of the pool. Once you find one that matches up with the content-type signature that your server is sending, you should be able to stick to it. If you have Firebug there, you may want to look at the headers that your server is sending, that might make the traipse through the encodings list a little shorter.

Walter,

Thank you for the guidance, now that i know what the problem is and the fact that the development site will move to the online server, i will leave the fault fixing on the Dev server.

Thanks Again
