[Pro] Table Menu

Hello All,

I have a layered CSS table comprised of one row and five columns that I would like to use as a navigation bar. The text in each cell is set as an image (gif) with the text set to “Handwriting - Dakota”, with a shadow added. The problem is that I cannot get the hyperlinks to work at all. I tried using an image map, but I could not get them in front of the table. I tried selecting the text and making the text in each cell a hyperlink, but that didn’t work either. The first column worked a little, but only half of the word was a link despite the whole word being selected, the other four columns didn’t work at all. I know there are different ways to make a navigation bar, but I would like to be able to use “Handwriting - Dakota” as my text. Are there issues with making table content hyperlinks? Is there something I’m doing blatantly wrong? I hope I am not reposting a question that was already answered, I looked through the forum, but I was l unable to find an answer to my question. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Post a link to your page Justin so that we can see better where it is going wrong.

There is no reason why gif text cannot be links whether in a table cell or not.

An alternative would be to insert a graphic item into the table cell 1st and type your graphic text into that and then add the link to the graphic container. http://deltadesign.co/fw_examples/textlink.html

Dave,

I have FINALLY found my problem. I was entering “|” (the character above the backslash key) as a divider. This was causing all my problems. For example:
“Home | News | Gallery | Blog | Contact” In each instance only the “|” character would contain the link, not the word to follow. As soon as I removed it, everything worked as it should have. I’ve been messing with that for two days now, so thank you very much for your help. Without your help I am certain I would not have solved my problem. Thanks for everything, have a great day!

I was entering “|” (the character above the backslash key)

Commonly referred to as the Pipe

Can’t see a reason why that should have caused your problem.

But as long as you are sorted.
