Is there an action available that will automatically alternate row colors in tables?
Thanks.

Thanks Walter, looks like exactly what I want… BUT… I’m unable to implement properly. I have the box checked off (clear existing colors), but it’s not clearing them, nor is it working when I insert new rows.
Is this only good on ‘new’ tables and not legacy ones in FW5 Pro?

Can you post a link to your example page Peter - then we might be to see the underlying code.

So - I am seeing a black header bar with alternating white and grey rows.
What should I be seeing?

These were done ‘manually.’ Whenever I’ve a new row insertion, I have to manually change the coloring of the background rows to keep them alternating; otherwise I’ll have two of same coloring in a row and not have the ribbon effect.
I tried applying the table bars script to this, but it had no effect at all when inserting one row randomly.

I just tried downloading again… this action doesn’t have the “F” icon attached to it and is a .txt file. (Unlike any other actions that I’ve installed.)… might it be defective or something? There was no automatic installer for it like others.
Guessing.

It should download as a zip file to be expanded to ‘Table-Bars.fwaction’ - dragging this file over the top of the FW program icon in the Dock should install it for you.

No, that’s not the way it’s coming across… It’s identified as a Microsoft Excel file with no file extension on it.

redoanloaded/reinstalled… still not coming over as a zipped file; but I did get a message that FW was installing it.
Afterwards, it still does not work.

Does it appear in the actions list in FW

OK - Just tried the action on a pre-coloured table and it did not ‘clear existing colours’
So probably worth removing the background colours first.

Just did that… still it does not work. Nothing. zilch. no activity at all after applying the action; nor when choosing options for coloring the rows.
Guess it doesn’t like FP 5?

Tried it with a brand new ‘naked’ html page, new table, and it still doesn’t work.
Thanks for your help anyway.

Well it works for me OK - bar removing existing colours. But it is easy to remove the colours manually.
Do you want a FW doc with it working? 5.5.4?

This Action dates back to the Mesozoic… when it says it is removing background colors, it’s probably removing the bgcolor attribute, as in HTML 3.2 tables, not the CSS attribute.
