It’s an easy answer - but not an obvious one. You can access all the
layers in your stack of images or thumbnails using the Site Panel on
the left of your screen
-
Go to the ‘cog wheel’ at the bottom of the Site Panel and click on
it.
-
Now click on Show Items in the pop-up menu.
Look at your Site Panel and you will see a ‘diectory tree’ of all he
pages and items. Use the small grey disclosure triangles to open and
close the pages and associated items.
- click on the title for each item in the stack (it’s useful to give
them meaningful names) and it will be selected. The action window will
show the settings for that item, even if you can’t see the item
itself, because it is somewhere down the stack.
If it’s an HTML item you can press Return to bring it into focus and
edit it. If it’s a Graphic Item you can go to the Item Menu and click
Modify to edit it. If you want to bring it to the top of the stack,
temporarily, so that you can see the image then click on the item in
the Site panel and drag it down to the bottom of the list of stacked
items. (Bottom of the list represents the last item added, i.e. topmost.
A useful tip when building a stack if images with attached Actions, is
to create the first one, add the Action(s) and then duplicate it for
each new image, one by one. Each time, change the image by double
clicking in it and locating the new one to replace it and advance the
target numbers as necessary.

I followed the tutorial on the Maurice Cowley gallery with
thumbnails and big pics closely, following each step to get a simple
gallery going…but when I select the big image to apply the target
action… only the top image appears in the actions window, and the
“stack” of pics are not all there at all.
Similarly, when try to apply the rollover action on the thnails,
only the top thbnail appears in the actions palette…tried grouping
them too.
help! this is really frustrating…! how can it go so wrong when I am
following it so closely? am I not doing something with layers?
