[Pro] Target Show/Hide Freeway 6

Using Freeway 6 pro, the action Target Show/Hide is missing. Now we can do this with an IMAGE but my need is to setup a slideshow type of thing but with text below the image as well - so I have the text and image in an html item and I want to stack these and then show/hide them on the timer.

Is there a way to accomplish this using Freeway 6?

Thank you

Target Show/Hide layer works fine in FW6 with the built-in action.

Are you sure that you are trying to apply it to a layered item (green bounding box) - Not blue.

Yes - layered green bounded box. Not Blue. There is no Target Show/Hide Layer menu option under Actions.

Make sure you have the layered element selected (corner handles showing), then look in [Main Menu] Item / Actions for the joy. All Actions are contextual – you must have the correct element selected in order to apply or even see the Action.

No arguing with that - so why do you have the action and I do not? What type of item is it you are targeting? Do I need to “install” this action? Is it not a native action?

Using the blank website template - the option does not show. Using the Ambient template the option DOES show.

So what’s the difference?

… hmm probably there is a difference between a “layered” item and an “inline” one - or better said:

Absolute positioned or relative positioned?

Just a guess.

Can you publish an example of each – just one HTML box on the page for each – so I can see the underlying HTML? That will tell me way more than any screenshot.

That screenshot is from a BackDraft page and inline elements are not supported by the action.

Inline vs layered - I think it should all be layered but the positioning is not absolute it is relative and does that make a difference? How is this specified?

Are you trying to use this effect on a Responsive page/layout.

If so then that action isn’t going to work for you as the trigger element, which can be an inline element, will move in relation to the Target show/hide layer which has to be absolutely positioned.

Yes - on a responsive page/layout.

So how do you do a slideshow like this on a responsive page?

WowSlider?

Sorry - WowSlider looks neat but doesn’t fit the bill. I need to be able to change the image - and the text beneath it that talks about the image - on a timer.

So the whole thing would fade in and out over a repeating time.

Similar to the transition effect action that does work - but repeatedly.

A Google for ‘responsive sliders’ should turn up a few.

Thanks all - one mystery remains but the developers are looking into why I cannot use the generic template and obtain this action. Thanks
