[Pro] Text used with Carousel Action

Hi I’ve successfully completed a number of portfolio pages on my revamped site using the Carousel Action, (a sincere thanks to Dan Jasker for his wonderful and free tutorial). I was wondering if it’s possible to have text (preferably HTML) appear on each of the the pages via a mouse click on each of the tabs used in the Carousel Action. Has anyone tried it? If so, what if any action did you use? Any ideas on this would be greatly appreciated.

OK, I’m not the expert, but if I’m understanding you correctly, yes you can. (It would help answer your question if we could see your site.) Go to http://luckypro.biz/client/walter/v702/info/bartwalternews.html and see the proposed model for a “multipage section.”

Each Carousel Pane has both image and text, inline, in the Pane. Far as I know, you can put as much of anything as you want in any Pane. Unless it gets to be too much, or too many Panes, for a client browser to reasonably download.

You can certainly add text in any pane of the Carousel Action. It’s easy. Just follow the instructions that are supplied by Walter: Carousel in Freeway

Also do a search on the forum here.

I didn’t explain quite what I meant. What I would like is to be able to click on a tab and not only have the new image slide into view but also have text in a separate text box appear somewhere else on the page. The examples are close but only show where text is combined on the same Pane as the image.

Do your images/text have to slide?

If you use the Target Show/Hide Layer Action and Rollover Action,
instead of Carousel, you can produce a fade-in effect of multiple
elements any where on a page. Not quite as slick as Carousel but an
alternative possibility.

See quick test here: http://www.herefornow.co.uk/fadetest

No doubt Walter will come to you rescue, later, though.

If you apply the Rollover Action to your Carousel Tab, you can set that to trigger a Show/Hide Target Layer Action applied to one or more layers elsewhere on the page. I haven’t tried this specifically, but the basic Rollover effect works with the tabs, so this should work.

I would like the images to slide and have the text appear after the image slides into view. Thanks Walter - I tried using the Show/Hide Target Layer Action but hadn’t used the Rollover Action with it. I had a problem with how the tab could 'see" the html text box to select it. If that’s not possible I can simply make it a graphic file.

Aha, I didn’t realize you were working with text links here. I’m not
aware of a way to “stack” two text Actions in Freeway. Generally,
Actions have to create the text they modify, since you can’t apply an
Action to a normal text selection within the Freeway interface. So
this would be one to a customer.

This is possible, fairly simple even, if you hand code the links and
write a bit of JavaScript code to create your animations. But you
won’t be able to make these happen with text links in regular Freeway

  • Actions.

If you decide to use graphics for your tabs, then you could use the
Transition FX on your tab to trigger an animation. That can have
delays and animations, and might do exactly what you need.

Thanks Walter, my Javascript coding abilities leave much to be desired to say the least. I’ll give the Transition FX Action a go with graphic files and see what I can come up with.
