[Pro] too many lines under text

Hi,

Does anyone know why on some of my pages and under most of my words (home, about us, contact us…etc…) there are double underlines…these words are hyperlinked.

The double underline does not show up in preview when i’m in freeway pro working on my pages…it only shows up when i look at my website in firefox and safari on the browsers.

The only tab that doesn’t have double underline is the ‘shoe info’ tab.

I don’t understand why and how to resolve this. Does anyone have any information/solution on this.

I can only check on my iPad just now but both Safari and Atomic both display a single underline.

Thank you.

I see it in Firefox but not safari. and on all pages except the home page.

what are you html box settings for the links?

because the second line is blue - my thought is that those are turned on. I had the same issue at one time.

inspector - item appearance - then links.
if it looks white then its on. just click on the underline u to turn to grey.

Thank you for your suggestion. My little one got up in the middle of the night when I posted my question. I went into her bed just for 5 mins and woke up 5 hours later.

I found the links in the inspector pallette settings and have turned the 4 U’s to grey and that has done the trick. I’m assuming its ok to have all 4 U’s grey.

Thank you very much.

PS. Sorry I didn’t write back sooner.

Now that you have got rid of the underline you should probably add/change the hover link colours so that it is more obvious they are links when rolled over.

Hi David,

Thankyou. I changed the colour of the hover link but nothing is happening when i look in the browser. I’m sure there is a step i’m missing somewhere.

I tried to do a text rollover but that just created another box. Will I have to redo my boxes/text and put them in the text rollover boxes?

Where did you set your link styling?

In the Page Inspector (nothing selected on the page) Paintbrush icon>Links

Or in the Item inspector (item selected) Paintbrush icon>Links

Use one or the other unless you want a particular item to have different options.

I have gone back to the underline thing again for now as you brought up a good point about how are people going to see that its a link.

I have tried what you suggested but it’s not working out for me. I used the Page Inspector - Links. There is nothing under Item Inspector. I will try to do it again another time because at the moment it’s getting frustrating that I can’t work it out even with your instructions. Feeling a bit dumb, I will tackle it again soon. At least I know how to fix the underline thing, just have to figure out the hover thing you said…

Thank you again Dave.

There is nothing under Item Inspector

You mean there are no settings for links there or you do not have the Links section available.

Remember that it is the container (Div) that you select and not the text itself.

The settings are there. I am selecting the container. Its just when I change the colour of the hover, when i look in the browser it hasn’t done anything.

Is it maybe because the text is in a HTML item. Would it work better if I made it a Graphic Item?

No - it should be HTML item

Do you have settings in both Page and Item settings?

No. Just Page settings.

There are no settings available for the Item.

I can only access the chnage hover colour/setting using Page Settings.

Have a look at http://www.deltadzine.net/test/textrollover.html

That is what you should see with the containing HTML item selected

On another note I see this in your page code

<meta name="google-site-verification" content="4Ql_vfBPG9zP2sTPOa7Vkb5vVTqaqMj_QubrQ75rr74" />

<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/loose.dtd">
<html>
<head>

I am pretty sure that is not the correct place for the google site verification code.

Yes after checking I found this

<HTML>
<HEAD>
<TITLE>Your Title</TITLE>
<meta name="google-site-verification" content="String_we_ask_for">
</HEAD>
<BODY>

So your verification code should be within the HEAD section!

Also there is a ‘Text Link Style’ action that you can apply to an HTML box that gives the same sort of options that the other methods do.

That is what I have. I have changed all the colours like in your example. I have the U’s highlighted and not highlighted - doesn’t make a difference.

The text is in a HTML box. There is nothing else done to it eg. I haven’t applied any test rollover actions to it because when I do it creates a new box that doesn’t do anything for my text and you can’t type text into that rollover box anyway.

I’m obviuosly a lost cause. I applaud your persistence to help me.

I’m seeing and doing everything you have showed me but its just not showing up in the browser the when i check to see if it works.

Will it only maybe show up once I have uploaded it or shouldn’t make a difference, I should be able to check if it works in the browser preview before uploading?

Ok, I shall try the Text Link Style.

You’ve got me there with the Code stuff. I’ll have a look to see if I can work that one out!

I tried the text link style - no joy.

Could you steer me in the right direction as to how I find/access that Page Code HEAD stuff. I’ve had a look and have no idea.

My husband initially built this website and he’s not home right now for me to ask him.

I have now taken over the whole website stuff and learning along the way.

Ok, I finally got somewhere with the text rollover stuff.

I basically started from scratch, created new boxes and hyperlinks and it works a treat. So now I’ll re-do all my HTML boxes and hopefully it will work.

Now, just to tackle the Page Code stuff…It’s never ending, just when you think its all set up and working.

Thank you for identifying that Page Code stuff.
