When importing text, I can use the Paste and Match Style option, but if it’s just a head with little text, I may just type over it. Or, if I need to correct text in a block of text, so I type over the text that’s already been styled.
But, in both of those instances, a new style is generated (style2, or whatever). Why is this? There is nothing about the style that changes other than the content.
It’s very annoying, and then it affects every page whether it’s used on them or not.
This issue did pop up on a regulair basis in several posts here. Unfortunately your specific question disappeared unanswered, but neverthertheless well worth mentioning again. So, thanks for bringing it up!
My own solution is to go to the styles menu (before I close the document, and after a series of change in text) and delete all style23 style13 etc. If you follow the methode of applying a body style to the whole document, you can easely replace the style13 with ‘no style’.
For the styles you formed yourself, and gave a recognisable name, you unfortunately have to remember where style13 is in the document. So, there is another way.
Highlight the text you’ve just changed and apply the right style to it (in the Inspector) FW will delete all (selfcreated) styles not actually applied to a text in the document when closing that document.
And, yes, for now I try to attack them one at a time. But, as
atelier mentioned, the best way is probably to just restyle after
making the change.
I had a rash of them the other day. I selected them and edited them so
they stood out on the page - something like 18px bold and green. They
were easy to find then, but still a bin on 60-odd pages.
Hopefully, something can be done about it in a bug fix at some point.
