[Pro] Upload Stuff not working properly

Good morning my friends!

Take a look at this screenshot :

http://dump.vanheukelum.net/upload_some_stuff.png

I’ve selected 7 files to upload to the HTML-location, but it skips 2 of them. Does anybody have a clue what’s going on here? I sure don’t.

Hi Richard,
I can’t see anything wrong from the screen grab although I can’t see
the full file names so there could be something wrong there.
Can you send me a sample Freeway file please ideally with the 7 sample
files and I’ll see if I can reproduce the issue here?
What version of Freeway are you using?
Thanks,
Tim.

Hi Richard,
Thanks for the sample file and the specs. Looking at the file with the
action under a microscope I can see that the 3rd and 4th files in the
action ‘valveco_logo_holland.gif’ and ‘valveco_logo_international.gif’
are both getting reported as ‘valveco_logo_curacao.gif’ (the file
selected in File 1). Since Freeway believes it is a duplicate file it
simply ignores it.
If I swap these files for two others then the issue goes away. Also if
I display an alert to get the control value then this causes the
control to wake up and provide the correct value but then this can
cause the issue to move to another control.
At this point I think this is looking a lot like the bug that caused
issues with the FavIcon action where resources would get mixed up with
those on the page.

Softpress support, can I ask that you take a look at Richard’s Freeway
file please (the last page in the site has the Upload Stuff action
applied and is the one causing the issues)? If you need anything from
me please let me know.
Thanks,
Tim.

Hi Guys,

This actually looks like Freeway is trying to be too efficient and
considering the files to be the same, despite their names being
different. Richard, is there actually any difference between the logos
that have different names? Would you be able to re-use one version of
the image for the different areas? If not then it may be a case of
needing to upload the files manually using an FTP application.

Regards,

Joe

Hello Joe, yes I see what you mean.

Well, there are a few logo’s who are identical to each other, but they all have been created individually. Not just by ‘duplicate and rename’.

It’s not an big issue for me, you know, I just upload them via FTP. But when it’s the case that files get ignored by this action I thought you all should know

Richard

Hi Joe,
Thanks for looking into this. I must admit that I didn’t look at the
image’s themselves. So does Freeway consolidate external resources as
well as internal (Freeway generated) files?
Regards,
Tim.

Yes, but there is a way to prevent this happening: if you place a
resource directly in one of Freeway’s Site resource folders and import
it from there, Freeway will treat it as a unique resource and will not
replace it with another identical resource.

Of course, it’s important that you place the resource in the resource
folder yourself, and don’t use a resource that Freeway generated -
otherwise it can be deleted by Freeway. If you place the resource there
yourself, Freeway recognizes that it doesn’t own it and will never delete it.

Since i did have a few times a sort of the same problem ( thinking it was me…) i find it a very long-winded ( is that the correct frase?) for this issue.
esspecialy when you should have a site, with a lot of images in it, and a lot of pages.
i do use the action quit much, and i did have the problem a few times. ( always asuming it was me!) its not nice for Richard, but i am glad someone did had the same problem.
