[Pro] Uploading a revised index page

Further to my post re lost files(no replies) I am starting to redo the web pages starting with the index.html page. Tell me if I upload using freeway pro , using the same data as before will it just replace the original index page, and leave the other pages intact? Web site is:
www.rugbyanddistrictartsociety.org.uk and does anyone else do an art society web??

If you upload a page with the filename index.html over the top of an existing index.html, then the new file will definitely overwrite the old.

Sorry you didn’t hear any words of advice on your predicament. This is a frequently asked question, seems to surface every six months or so. There’s a Softpress KnowledgeBase article about it that I wrote many many years ago. http://www.softpress.com/kb/questions/40/Fast+Way+to+Recreate+a+Website

Hi Walter, thanks for your reply. I understand uploading a new index page will over right the existing index page but will it leave the rest of the pages as they are? I should like to leave some of those as they are for the moment and replace gradually as required. I think there may be a few problems with the page links.

Hi Walter, Thanks for your link to recreating pages using screenshots. I did have a go using that and got on quite well. It stalled when I could’nt delete the background screenshot layer, thought i was asking to delete the page when tried deleting item 1 maybe I could have checked box not to publish that item to achieve the same effect. As I am using the Sonata template, it is fairly easy to put together using that and just dragging in the text from the original web pages, which is what you suggested and is quite amazing.

Yes. Any matching file names like index.html will be overwritten on the server.
