[Pro] Uploading issues

Hello

I am having problems uploading our website: mccdesign.com, which seems to have gone off line. I think the problem is to do with our IP but I wondered if anyone could explain exactly what might be happening so I can understand it.

The error message I get when uploading through Freeway is:

Cannot create directory because the server reported and error. [5523219956 Kbytes used (314%) - authorized: 1024000 kb]

In small text just under that it says [-26039:625:1214]

If I try to upload by dragging the files directly in to the ftp program (im using Transmit) it says:

Could not create folder named “resource”.
Server said:
Quota exceeded: [resource] won’t be saved

Error - 140: remote mkdir failed

We have just had a big clear out on our ftp site to make more room so not sure what the problem is.

Hope someone can help.

Thank you.

Hi Emma,
It looks like you are over your FTP storage quota. It looks like you have 1GB of storage allocated to that account but are already over the limit.
In Freeway look at the bottom of the site panel on the left hand side of the document window. Click on the gear icon and select ‘Show file sizes’ and republish your site. Check through the site panel and make sure you don’t have anything vastly huge on your pages (high resolution images, uncompressed video etc).
If the site looks OK then check again that you’ve weeded out everything you can from the FTP server.
If the issue continues you may have to check with your hosting provider and see if they can help purge your account for you.
Regards,
Tim.

Hi Tim

Thanks for your help.

Our site is really small, the whole file is 1.2MB so 1GB should be fine.

I’ve just tried several times to upload and it still wont. I’m also wondering why it took it self offline.

Do you think other than checking the size of images etc could I have done anything in my set up that would be causing the problem or do you think it is our IP. If thats the case we are going to have a long wait to get it sorted! :S

Thank you.

Emma

Hi Emma,
Sometimes hosts will put bandwidth restrictions on hosting accounts and these will often take sites down automatically when exceeded. I’d suggest getting in contact with your hosting provider and asking them what the issue is with your account. Give then the information you have (the fact that you can’t store files on the FTP server and that the web site is unavailable) and hopefully they should be able to get you back online soon.
Regards,
Tim.
