I was trying your video background action.
2 things - there is no sound at all and it takes a while to load so I wonder what is the optimal size of MP4
Since this is a background element, and does not present any user controls, and auto-plays, sound is definitely contra-indicated here. You should only start playing sound in response to a user click. That’s just polite.
Also since it’s a background, you can have shockingly low resolution and still get the same effect. Smaller, therefore, is better. Careful editing can cause the movie to loop back on itself without a gap or snap where the ends join. This will give you the best background effect, because it will allow the visitor to read the foreground information without too much distraction.
Remember, it’s a background – it’s there for an effect and “flavor”, not to carry the story of the page.

I wonder if to use a lil TV-lines pattern as an overlay could be an alternative for movies as well.
I definitely CAN’T judge if it makes sense, but on static images it “visually” restores a blurry image to be much sharpener than it is in real and let you therefor as well reduce file-sizes as well.

so i must forgo the sound. I have seen other sites have a very short video intro with sound. its more of a fashion site so those folks dont mind the nuisance of sound as much as we all do…
Ha!
