Hi chaps - I have a client in Greece (probably not at all relevant but the visitors to their site will be from Greece) and they want me to encode a short (2 minute) video for them to upload onto their site and then it should be available for download, are there any statistics to recommend the best format … mov, swf, flv, avi, wmv - I’ve had a bit of a search but am not sure, lots of varying advice … any thoughts very welcome. Best Roger
Thanks David, yes a little more research from my end confirmed this but I believe you more than ‘strangers on the net’ - what about the redirect though, is that simple to set up - sorry to be a pain.
QT Pro offers an Export for Web option that allows you to create iPhone optimised versions with all the files necessary to sniff what connection is being used and deliver the suitable format (3G or cellular)
The simple code produced by QT Pro is added to your iPhone page as markup and the various movie files can either be FTP’d to your site or by using the Upload Extra Resources action.
There are other ways of doing this by for example just placing a .m4v file on the iPhone page but the QT method gives you the ‘click to play’ feature and a more compressed version when on a standard cellular connection.
As a side note to this, these pages were created after the death of a dear friend of mine who succumbed to leukemia after a hard fought 32 month battle - he was only 31 and left 2 young children. I presented the slideshow at his funeral and his wife asked me to make it more readily available to those who weren’t able to attend.

That is a beautiful tribute for your friend, David. Very well done. So sad for his little girls and his wife to lose him so young. My prayers go out to them.
