[Pro] Web Site Structure

Hi all,

I’m after some advice regarding the structure of my web site.

Presently I have it set up like …

Home page (index)
Page 1 (details of product)
Page 2 (details of product)
Page 3 (details of product)

Page 40 (details of product)

Page 50 (details of product)
Folder 1
Page 1 in folder (details of product)
Page 2 in folder (details of product)
Page 3 in folder (details of product)
Folder 2
Page 1 in folder (details of product)
Page 2 in folder (details of product)
Page 3 in folder (details of product)
Folder 3
Page 1 in folder (details of product)
Page 2 in folder (details of product)
Page 3 in folder (details of product)

It evolved this way as when adding new products I used to just add a new page.
Then I started to add a folder with similar product on different pages contained in a folder.

My question is, does each folder need an index page? Would this effect its search engine efficiency? To my mind, the site has the Home page index and everything else is linked to from Menus.

Any help and advice would be appreciated.

Many thanks,

Neil

No - but it will make things easier for a visitor if he just types yoursite.com/productrange/ into the browser - he will get the default page displayed - which should be a description of that product range.

ie if it was me the folder structure would be mysite.com/productrange/range1-description-page (more product pages), mysite.com/productrange2/range2-description-page (more product pages)
