[Pro] Web Ticker Action not working

Hi

Have just tryed to implement this action and followed what was said in a previous thread about this action, also followed the instructions on Actions Forge regarding this.

The HTML box is layered, with overflow set to ‘Hidden’, action applied with speed set to: 2 & text direction: Right to Left.

When published, it displays as a normal Text Box with just Text.

Does not work. What am I doing wrong?? I’m using FW 5.6.4

A link to your online example would help with diagnosis.

Sorry about that David. Have a look at http://www.pal4paws.co.uk/test.html and you should see what I mean. It’s the text in the middle of the page that has got the action applied to it.

I am not seeing any evidence of the webticker action on that page.

Start with a totally blank page and try again.

Reduce your width of the ticker box to only as much as you want visible - works better with a greater content to width ratio.

On this page http://www.deltadesign.co/fw_examples/fwactions/webticker.html - the box is 135px wide.

And this the text:

My test text text 2 comes along text 3 comes along too!

Hi David

It works if the ‘Remove from Relative Page Layout’ action is applied.

Know of any other way of implement this action??

am not sure what is meant by this but in fact there are actions that are built for layered items only. The ticker is one of them.

RPL is behind the curtain turning your layered lay-out into nested DIVs (inline) which will break the functions. But you excluded this item from RPL and you should be fine or?

Another possibility is always to seek for a code based stuff (an external script) which you could add via markup (CrowBar) into your artwork.

So it’s up to you.

Cheers

Hi Thomas

Thanks for your reply. I’m looking at other ways of getting a Ticker Tape/Scrolling Text into the design.

Is there a reason why you cannot remove that particular item using the action. Does it break your layout?

Hi David

I’ve sorted it out now. You remove the RPL from the HTML container that has the Web Ticker action applied.

Simples…

Thanks for your help

Lee - can I suggest that you change the colour of your body text to something a bit darker.

These tired eyes struggle with #758295

Hi David,

How do you make the text appear on the right side of box?

For me, it always fulfills the html box, putting the first word on the left side. This way, as the text starts to scroll, the first word immediately disappears.

Thanks.
