[Pro] Weird thing seems to be happening

Every time i upload my site that is a FW made site, this page which is on wordpress, gets messed up. The header which looks like : www.hgrantdesigns.com/Newsite goes away. Any reason why could be happening or how? Id my FW based site overwriting everything?

Karen, look at this site : www.hgrantdesigns.com/Newsite and then look at www.hgrantdesigns.com. The header is not there

The header is not there

It is not mentioned in the page code - no sign of any code for a header.

Sure you dont have it set as not to publish? Or the Display checkbox is unchecked in the Inspector.

It was there and working until I uploaded from.fw to my server. Its like it backtracked. The blog page is hosted on wordpress and not anywhere on fw. Only pages on fw are ones on www.hgrantdesigns.com/Newsite

I honestly doubt that Freeway can “overwrite” the WordPress stuff. Well it can, naturally - but WordPress is an entirely world of its own. It is based on php files. The index is a collector of various (php) snippets and various css and image files.

It is not really possible to integrate it into Freeway, it’s more to wrap the Freeway stuff around the WordPress core.

So if you’ve ever had your “header” in WordPress, we need to make sure to know HOW you tried to add it. Please try to describe the steps you did.

Cheers

Or pull the WordPress content bits (eg last few blog entries) into a
Freeway framework - which is the only way I’ve used it until now.

Yeah - David, the truth is, it is both:

In the first step you integrate the WP function(s) into the Freeway artwork (as you said).

In the next step externalize the “areas” using the template helper action.

In the last step (using a code-editor) integrate those template-snippets into the corresponding WP template parts.

I did once an approach which is more a documenting rather than a tutorial or the how to. It’s only purpose is to attract others to rush in verifying (or falsifying) the proposed stuff. It didn’t happen yet, though.

The videos are starting with:

This entire project had been created with this method - and after jumping once the initial hurdle, the rest was more then 75% WordPress stuff (loops, how to create them in order to receive the expected).

It is, not integrated. It is being redirected to where wordpress is installed. Just like when you click on social media links on a page ave it brings you to that link

Blog | H Grant Designs | Bergen County, NJ is just another link on www.hgrantdesigns.com/Newsite

Eventually when my new site is launched, everything will be on www.hgrantdesigns.com

This is not the 1st time that the header on the blog has disappeared either. It seems that every time i do updates to the “newsite” folder, it disappears. Is it possible wordpress does not like my header?

Is it possible that even though my wordpress is installed on another part of my server, freeway is overwriting the whole server? However, i host another site on my server that wasnt made in freeway and nothing happens with that

Freeway overwrites nothing. You can even add an additional css-file into the default css-folder and it will be untouched. This is my daily practice - adding some folders and stuff by hand.

I simply do not understand what you are doing and what you are after.

But one thing for sure - Freeway does not overwrite WordPress.

So once again:

HOW did you add your header to WordPress and where?

I had one of my programmers do it who works with wordpress. I’ll ask him and find out and report back

Addition:

… as long as you don’t create subfolders in Freeway’s sidebar which are same named as the folder that you plan to keep your stuff.

So if you plan to have a subfolder called “blog” where your WP is installed, it might be a bad idea to create a subfolder called “blog” within your Freeway hierarchy.

Nope, the only pages in my freeway folder are " home, about, services, portfolio, and contact" On each page there is a link to the blog which : Blog | H Grant Designs | Bergen County, NJ

on my server wordpress is installed in folder named : “blog”
