[Pro] Why does my text Move?

Hi all,

I’ve search the forum for this but can’t really seem to find an answer.

I have a Menu navigation to left of the website, font size is 17px, Lucida Grande. Everything is layered.
I’ve created an image in photoshop, that adds shadows behind the text, just to give a bit of depth.

When i view the page in freeway it looks fine, but when i preview it in a browser or in the freeway ‘preview’ the menu text moves! This therefore affects the look i’m trying to create, as the shadows aren’t underneath the menu txt.

Does this make sense?
Could someone help me figure out why it does this?

There is no overlapping, apart from the graphic which is behind.

Hi Phil, make sure you define your text with a ‘space after’ and ‘space before’ amount (eg. 5px space after and 0px space before) as well as a leading amount (e.g. if you’re text is 24px then use 27px leading.)

Do you mean in the paragraph section in the inspector window?
I tried this and it does not help fix it.
My font size is 17px…

I did as follows:

  • First line indent = 19px
  • Left indent = 0px
  • Right indent = 5px

Alas, no joy!! :frowning: why?
