[Pro] wordpress & Freeway

Hey all need a bit of advice
I designed a site and the friend wants me to use wordpress for a page on site so she can update upcoming events and news etc( CMS )

I wanted to use webyep for that but they are most comfortable with wordpress as their existing site is wordpress.
I am investigating setting up to design it locally using Bitnami or another option yikes… and then proceed. Already Bitnami makes me dizzy trying to figure it out.
I should learn wordpress platform but I know it will take a bit of time, which I have.
any pearls of wisdom?

Using WP to update one page seems hugely impractical at best if the rest
of the site is FW built. If you’re going to use WP then I would say put
the entire site under WP. Otherwise there’s probably some sort of 3rd
Party script etc. that can be integrated into FW to handle events, news
… assuming you can talk your friend into using a non-WP option.

Obviously there are a lot of other full-featured CMS options other than
WP but it sounds like it might be a tough sell.

Thx Todd
I cannot put the entire site on WP.
Its been a year building it because of time constraints and its a big site …
so I have to figure the best way to do the one page. I can sell an alternative option but I want to to make the best choice.

And I did want to learn Wordpress platform.

Too bad. It sounds like the site would have been a good candidate for WP
or similar.

Then before putting one page under WP I would suggest looking through
the HotScripts site for something to mimic the functionality you’re
after. There’s probably something.

Thx
the site is already fantastic. Freeway was the way to go as that is how I learned to design…
If it was not for the need for CMS I would not have this quandry… still need to find the best solution…

thx though need to investigate further

Hi all
after reading the forum
I looked into Pulse but found out the cost $25 is for each domain I use it on, so every time I use it it cost $25. Does this sound right?

When you buy a license it’s tied to whatever domain you specify. If you
want to install it for 3 different sites then you need to buy 3
licenses, each tied to that specific domain.

It’s overkill to use WP for one page. I would build an example page with one of the lower-powered Freeway-friendly cms option, then sell it to the client as hard as I could.

Thx I think this is what I should do, as I am also pulling my hair out from the simpler choices but webyep could be the way to go. I just need to make sure it can do all the things I need like adding links and images etc.

but I do agree … now

It certainly can - it is pretty fully featured.

And without doubt one of these ‘simple’ CMS is the way to go for 1 page. (And actually very capable on much larger sites too.)
