[Pro] WOW Slider

Hi all,

Has anyone incorporated this ‘http://www.wowslider.com/’ into their Freeway websites anywhere? If you have, a tutorial fit for a complete airhead would be much appreciated.

Thanks

This is a stand alone application that generates code for a slider that includes an html page.

To use this in your own page you need to open the index.html page that the app generates and copy the code in the head section that starts with…

<!-- Start WOWSlider.com HEAD section -->

and ends with…

<!-- End WOWSlider.com HEAD section -->

You will need to paste this code into the head section of your FW page. Then you need to copy the code portion in the body section of that page that starts with…

<!-- Start WOWSlider.com BODY section -->

and ends with…

This body code must be inserted into your FW page as a Markup item. Of course all the files generated by the app (other than the index.html) must be separately uploaded to you web server using an ftp client in order for the slider to show up.

Picking up this thread …

I’ve created the page, inserted the code and now am stymied at the upload stage.

Wowslider created a folder with the page inside it, and then a few other sub-folders where the other images and other bits and piece reside.

My questions are:

  1. Are all these files and folders uploaded to the website?
  2. What is the best way to upload them?

Thanks for any and all advice!

Bryan

The generated code you inserted actually looks for the folder that holds the pieces created by WOWslider. That folder has to be loaded to your web server, although the html WOWslider gernerated does not. It’s easiest to use an ftp client such as Cyberduck or Transmit for this step.

Hello, guys!

I am trying to use the wow slider on my website and bought the app a couple of weeks ago. I have followed all the instructions on their site and also here but have no success. I am not sure I am following this correctly. I understand I have to paste the the code into the head section of my FW page that starts with…

and ends with…

My first question: I have Before , After , Before , After , Before, After …etc… Where am i supposed to past it?

On the other hand I pasted the body part of the code into a markup item and uploaded the index.html generated by wow slider to my FTP. Freeway preview looks great but when I upload the page I have a big error. Please take a look at this link:

Please forgive if my questions are too basic

thanks,

Marcus

Hi Marcus,

choose the before to place the code. You do not need to upload the index.html, but all the other parts (the data and engine folder).

But now to the main point:

It is all a question of correct paths to the images/scripts.

You have to adjust all your paths within the markup-item). So assumed your folder is named slider, all your paths should be something like:

…/slider/data3/images/image1.jpeg

Do not forget to do the same to correct the paths as well.

Hope this helps you to start.

Cheers

Hello, Kimmich.

Thanks for your email.

You mean that I have to edit the code manually and add the path myself in each image? On both the Before part and the markup item?

Well, I tried it and now I have another problem because I see the images but they are just pasted there like a collage with no effect at all…

Following the wowslider.com support I though that I just had to copy the code and paste it as it is…

Please let me know
Here’s the link again:

thanks in advance!

Hi,

I’m Thomas, just as a sidestep.

You’re very close. Yes - it’s in the nature of scripts, that they built stuff stand-alone.

Now what you now have to at least to adjust is the path of:

in your mark-up code to point to the recommended javascript I guess:

…/slideshow/engine1/script.js

I hope this will fix it.

Cheers

Thomas, thank you so much!

This worked perfectly!

Now, I realized that I forgot to put captions, but now I know how to get this working and can do it again!

I really appreciate your help!

Can an iPhoto Slideshow be imported into Freeway Pro?
– in a simple average layman’s procedure?

Thanx.

An iPhoto slideshow can be exported in many formats depending on the device you are targeting - many of these can be dragged and dropped onto a FW page.

Or use one of the actions.

Hi DeltaDave.
Sorry I didn’t get back to you – 'been wrapped up with too many things while learning this. Could you please provide me with a step by step procedure RE: using an “Action” by importing or – a drag and drop method with an iPhoto Slideshow into Freeway?

Sorry, still a newbie.

P.S. Say Hi to Billy Connolly!

In its simplest form you can export an iPhoto slideshow as a QT .mov file

This can be dragged from the finder onto your FW page.

But once you have a QT movie file you can use all sorts of software to convert it to other formats such as mp4 etc.
