[Pro] YouTube video in FW7

More the relationship height/width ie aspect ratio.

So what do you think?

David

Good to know that!

I am over the moon! I had to know how to do this as a customer was asking about the YouTube vid on a responsive page. I would never have got this without your help.
With the release of FW6 and 7 I am finding it difficult to do even the basics like this. I have been using Freeway from i’ts launch! I do wish there were a few more tutorials for stuff like this? Inclusion of this sort of element is not just as easy as it used to be!

I can only thank you (again) for your time and patience!

All the best to you

Trev.

There are other methods that use javascript but I thought this one would suit you better.

The following is a jquery solution http://www.deltadesign.co/FW7Test/youtube.html but you dont really want to use that on a FW page unless you can be sure of no conflicts with native FW actions.

Thanks for that Dave!

. . . . more than enough information in this overloaded brain on this method (Ha Ha).

Proceeding to do the “we’re not worthy” thingy now

As you guy’s say over there “Big Man - Yer sound as a pound!”

Hi Trev,
Then why not jut use the Action then? It produces pretty much the same styles Dave recommended you add to the page manually.

Tim.

Hi Tim

Interesting! My Actions have been playing up recently. I do in fact see the action available in FW7. Can you give me some settings for placing on the Page?
At the moment when I insert it I can only see a small video window which is ranged to the left.

Sorry Tim

I tried again and the action seems to work fine by applying it inline and adding the Page Markup as above. Am I on the right track? How do I control the initial size of the video placed on the Freeway page. I seems to want to stay large.

Hi Trev,
I’ve just tried using the Action out of context (not in a Backdraft template) and you are right in that the CSS needed doesn’t get written to the page. I had it in my head that the Action was self-contained but without the associated CSS styles (in the Backdraft core) the video will remain a fixed size. I’ll see what can be done to remedy this.
Regards,
Tim.

Thanks for the prompt reply Tim.

Just thinking - current solution is fine for the position it is in but I can see a time when a video would need placed in say a column/box of 2 or 3 elements across the page. Look forward to seeing if you can upgrade the Action.

All the Best
