[Pro] Zoomer

Hi Brad! I gave up on Zoomer. These days I just add an extra page with a 2000 x 3000 (say) pixel sized copy of the photo I want to give the detail of. I think it is even better for what I want to do. For example …

Paul, did you look at using zoomify http://www.zoomify.com/ as an alternative option.

Example here: http://www.scottish-photography.co.uk/rum_hills/rumhills1.html

and here: Duncolm Hill zoomable panorama by George Logan Scottish Photography

Thanks for the reply Scott! The link http://paulscott.info/rose shows exactly what I am going for though. It is what I need for my site. I understand why you gave up but where you were when you implemented it on that page is where I am trying to get.

Sorry Brad, I can’t provide more detail than is on this forum page. In fact, I had quite forgotten about the rose application! I did have some initial problems with Zoomify, but I think finally I decided that the effort in setting it up wasn’t justified by the outcome – I was unhappy with the layout of the final webpages (as illustrated in the seoras site examples). Good luck, Paul

Paul,

Zoomify is a doddle to set-up as long as you can ftp the files. If I can then…

The outcome and layout, even using my old website pages is fine so not sure what you mean there. I think for panoramas and being just being able to zoom into very large images zoomify is excellent. All depends what your after of course.

Anyway, getting the web page for zoomify I noticed a rather nice and inexpensive upgrade, so all not in vain:)

I am happy to send a zip file of my archive if anyone wouldn’t mind to take a look at it.

You will get my email address on my ‘People’ page if you want to send it to me - use Walter’s Fling service at http://fling.walterdavisstudio.com/ rather than emailing the file.

Thanks so much Dave! I sent it the way you said to and it will be coming from bradchristopher a gmail account. I really appreciate it!

Brad your issue appears to be that you have not included any links to the RbZoom css and js files - see my first post on this subject.

If the files are not there then nothing is going to work - I have just sent your example back to you. Let us know how you get on.

That’s what I expected btw. and this is often enough the reason, why a live example is much more worth than shipping files through the world.

The browser is the truth.

Thanks Dave. I uploaded those files via FTP like the instructions had said and the following,

was added before I had never heard of that action you used. I couldn’t get your example to work but I finally got mine to work with that action.

I really appreciate you taking the time. Thanks Dave.
