I’m sure I’m missing something obvious, but… I can’t get my template to show correctly in Blogger! I’ve followed the tutorial carefully, several times.
I have my domain set up and working;
I’ve uploaded all the files to this domain;
Blogger account is fine.
When I paste the HTML and preview (or save changes) in Blogger, I see empty posts/archive sections, and text placeholders where my images should be. The fonts are also completely wrong (should be Trebuchet and they are Times, I think).
Uh, do you want me to leave the unsuccessful HTML in my blog and post it?
Otherwise, I don’t know how to make my template visible to the outside world… just tell me what to do as if you’re speaking to a six year old. I won’t be offended. honest!

Well, you could tell us the URL to the Freeway page that you used for
your template building. You do have to upload that somewhere so the
Blogger page can find any referenced resources…
I know I sound like an idiot. I just have trouble translating the techno-shorthand the experts use (probably due to repeating themselves endlessly to people like me…)
The page is uploaded at the link above. It functions fine as part of my website…it’s the formatting in Blogger that I’m having trouble with: blank posts, background is half the color I chose and half white; bizarre fonts and messed up layout.
It looks from your Freeway page like everything should work just fine.
A few things to note:
Does your blog have a blogspot address (hosted by Google) or did you
choose to to host the blog yourself? If it’s the latter then logon to
Blogger and change the hosting to the former, externally hosted
Blogger don’t support these templates. To do this go to the Settings
section and then the Publishing Tab and click Switch to blogspot.com.
If you already have one of these then make sure you haven’t set the
template type (not style) to Classic. To revert it go to your
customize section and click on Custom Design, on this mage there is a
n Upgrade Your Template button. Click this and select one of the
templates. This will force your blog into using the most recent
template type. You can then go to Edit HTML and paste in your
template from Freeway.
I hope this helps.

The classic style was my problem! Now just a couple more things: can I get rid of that ugly blue Blogger header at the very top of the page? If there has already been a thread about this, just refer me there if it’s easier.
Also, can you tell me how to fix the box behind my posts so it isn’t broken up? Maybe check “height can grow” or something and then re-upload?
And third, should I want to add new Widgets, can I do that in Blogger, later on?
Hmm, I would say the best way to do this would be to draw an HTML item
on the page and give it a border and background color (the furthest
right small icon in the Inspector, hover over it and it will say
Background effects with border) rather than using a static graphic
item like the one you’re using right now. You can then pace the
Blogger Posts item inside this and it will grow and shrink as your
blog grows and shrinks!
Hope this helps.

How do I get around the “text overflow” issue? It seems that either the Blog posts box OR the HTML box w/border is shown, but not both. I think that’s why I ended up using a graphic box–couldn’t make an HTML box work with something on top of it.
I did find the code to eliminate the blue header-- that worked great.
You will need to select the Blog Posts item and cut it using Command-
x, then select the HTMl item and paste, command-v. This will make the
Action item a child of the other item and prevent it from overflowing.
If it still overflows then you have some other items on it (not in it)
that you need to do the same thing with.
As a note, the blue bar is a requirement of Blogger, many people do
remove them and I don’t know how strict they are. Just to let you know.
