Problems with html item

Hi Everyone

I am trying to insert an excel document which has built in hyperlinks into a set page layout, in order to keep the look and feel of my brothers site.

I have saved the excel document as htm and then imported it into a html box (I have also tried html Markup, Markup Item and html Item, but with the same problem). Whilst the hyper links within the excel document work fine, the drop-down menus and hyperlink style of the set page stop working properly.

I have also tried insering it as a pdf visible on the page, but then the hyperlinks within the pdf don’t work.

If anyone has any ideas how I can correct this or work round it I would be very grateful. Here’s a link to the site, go to the Teachers page found under the Info button http://www.deanpelling.co.uk

Cheers.

Not to worry. I have had to put the old site back on. To many compatibility issues. Was working fine with Safari, but was doing some strange things in IE. :frowning:

Shame really as this is otherwise a better program.

When you export from Excel, it creates a huge whopping mess of HTML
along with your data. If you put all of that HTML into another HTML
document, you have a mess. You can’t put an entire page inside
another. But you have some options available:

  1. Use a Frameset or an iframe to hold the Excel page. (Easiest)
  2. Export the Excel data as Comma-delimited text or Tab-delimited
text, and import it into a table in Freeway. (Harder, more control
    over how it looks)

In the end, which you choose depends more on how you want it to look
than anything else.

Thanks Waltd.

I’ll have a play around with that.

As I say for now I’ve had to upload the old site from a different program ( not that that is going smoothly either), but will persevere as I do prefer Freeway Pro in many ways.

Just so there’s no confusion, it wasn’t Freeway’s fault that the
Excel spreadsheet wouldn’t work. When Excel exports to HTML, it makes
an entire page of a web site with all the accompanying HTML
declaration at the top, all the code that goes with a site, but
doesn’t with the contents of a page. There’ll be an HTML declaration
at the top, links to styles, javascript etc that will not mix with
the ones that Freeway has already written itself.

best wishes,
